Pain During Arousal

Post by SLS »

My wife has been having some issues with pain in her vagina during the arousal process. This pain occurs before any touching of the genitals (i.e., while we are making out/fooling around above the waist) and seems to happen more often when she is quickly aroused. The way she describes it makes it sound almost like a kind of muscle cramp. Anyone else experience anything similar?

Does she have an IUD? I had one that got displaced and I experienced pain during arousal, when I ate a full meal, when there was pressure on my abdomen (even lying on my stomach) or twisted my body much.

No IUD. She is also not on hormonal BC.

Yes, I get this sometimes and always have. It isn't typically pain for me, just a feeling of discomfort. It's the result of blood rushing to the area. Since your wife notices it more when arousal is quick, perhaps that's what's going on. It's a lot for the soft tissue to handle all at once. Dr. Internet tells me that this can cause pain sometimes.

Of course, if seems too much or it's bothering her, she could talk to her GYN. Dr. Internet only goes so far.

This subject of pain before, during or after intercourse should be a greater subject I suppose but as I see here, it is not, we are mostly alone.

Has she seen her gynecologist yet?

I'm thinking this is what is happening. When we had sex earlier this week we angled the vibrator in such a way that apparently massaged out the discomfort/pain/soreness feeling.

Next time she's sees her gyn she is going to ask about it.

Oh, good! I'm curious to see what her gyn says, as long as it's not too personal.

While maybe not the same thing as you're experiencing, my wife sometimes has pain during arousal that she believes is related to fibroids (she definitely has fibroids, just doesn't know for sure that's the cause of the pain).

Hers are a bit different in that the pain happens during certain types/locations of physical stimulation--but it's not at the location being stimulated, it's a pain in an area several inches away and that painful area is always in the same place even if the stimulation inducing the pain is not. Kind of hard to explain, but it did make me think of your situation.
