I may have commented earlier but my DW is doing quite well on her HRT. She’s 63 and been on it for 3-1/2 years. She got started right at the end of the recommended 10 year window post-menopause.
Libido isn’t great, but it never was off the charts. Looks like adding testosterone isn’t approved in the USA.

Re: Looking for post-menopausal success stories!
We are in US and just got reimbursed for part of the cost of her T (after co pay) with a letter of medical necessity on relieving joint pain and low libido. She said it’s also helping her not be as dry and relieving some atrophy issues along with estrogen and pelvic floor therapy. After 10 scripts a year for antibiotics for UTI pain that tested negative, turns out a UroGyn (not a standard Gyn) diagnosed structural issues that HRT helped, the pain simulated a UTI, but was not. This is sad as many older Gyns are still demonizing HRT and scaring women into low quality of life.garyb wrote: ↑Mon Jan 05, 2026 4:55 pm I may have commented earlier but my DW is doing quite well on her HRT. Yes, topical estrogen I think will still be needed no matter how often you have sex.

Re: Looking for post-menopausal success stories!
I will tell our story and you can decide for yourself if it is a success story. My wife just turned 52. Without looking at medical records or my sex log I cannot tell you exactly, but it seemed like she was in the peri-menopause/menopause for about 10 years or more. She started with the classic hot flashes, the night sweats and hot all the time. Due to issues with birth control many years ago we agreed that she would not be on any. The periods began to be erratic and very heavy. Her OBGYN put her on birth control to help with the periods. It basically made her not have a period. There are so many things that women can experience once they enter this phase of life, but the one that my wife experienced was the apron belly or menopause belly. There was a bit of weight gain with it as well. She was seeing an OBGYN female that she really liked and was scheduled to see her the end of last year. That lady left the office and my wife had to go see a man. The female had told her to get off the birth control for 90 days before the appointment so that they could check her hormones. As soon as she did the period came roaring back. The man told her to stay on the birth control for one more year. Well, we went to see a local lady who is an expert on essential oils and such. She has a "system" that she has used for girls as young as 15 and ladies as old as 92 that levels out hormones. My wife went home that day and threw the birth control out. No periods, nothing. She also got off some meds for pain as well. During the menopause she never had any issues with dryness or the other horror stories you hear and read about. She can still squirt, still gets as wet as a water fall and has no problem getting her O. When you hear of the different things that can come along with menopause, we were very happy that she got what she got. We both agree that it could have been much worse. Shortly after getting on the hormone leveling system she even "felt" horny again. That was weird for her. We are happy with where we are in the journey.

Can you please share the system your wife used to deal with her symptoms or the practitioner's contact details? My wife had pain once after menopause, has fibromyalgia, and zero libido. Consequently, we have not been able to be together for a very long time.

Can I ask who you are talking to when you ask about the system or doctor? I don’t meant to answer if you are talking to someone else.Mick2026 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 16, 2026 8:18 pm Can you please share the system your wife used to deal with her symptoms or the practitioner's contact details?
