I wanted to let everyone know we just sent gift certificates to our new moderators and to the fine gentleman who moved content from the last two iterations of the boards to this system.
All of them expressed surprise and said they helped because they believe in what is done here and see it as an act of ministry. I get that, but gratitude and generosity are a bit deal at TMB, and the board of directors felt we needed to do more than say thank you. It's an honorarium that doesn't begin to cover the work they do, but we think it's still necessary.
The boards have not covered their own costs since we left Yahoo Groups (2002?). And that's okay. What happens here is a huge service to the body, and that is why TMB exists.
That said, this time around we have a real chance at being self-sufficient, and I would be remiss if I didn't pimp that.
The affiliate shopping links at the bottom of every page add up. I can't track where people come from for that, but January was the biggest payment we ever got from Married Dance, and I would guess at least 2/3rds of it comes from here. The other two were also higher than would normally be expected
Additionally, there's a PayPal donation link upper left next to the Quick Links button.
If we manage to cover our costs here, that's great, as it means more we can spend on other projects. If not we won't be closing down.
Full disclosure: TMB receives various donations from individuals and a couple of grants that cover our operating expnsies. In addition to that Lori and I raised our own support though our blogs.
