Following along with the theme of the " Did you do IT today" thread:
One great way I have found to promote positive feelings, closeness, and appreciation between my wife and I is to elicit laughter from her because of something that I say or do. Not a mocking or making fun of type laugh, but a genuine laugh that shows that she enjoys my (sometimes odd) sense of humor. I am not a comic or a really funny guy by nature and most times I can't plan witty remarks in advance. However, when I can work a witty comment or remark into our everyday conversation that catches her off guard and makes her crack up laughing it can go a long way toward fostering positive feelings and helping to break any tension that might exist due to life stresses or relational road bumps that can creep into a marriage. Its as if when we start to veer into different lanes a well timed witty remark brings out the laughter and bumps us back into the same lane.
So, my question is, have you made your spouse laugh today in a positive way?

The day is still young and we had to go our separate ways fairly early today, so no, I have not (yet) made my wife laugh today.
There was an instance recently that helped spur me to make this post. We have a running joke of sorts where if she asks my opinion about choosing between a few options, and I really don't have any definite opinion one way or the other, I will just respond: "Do whatever makes you happy dear!"
We were in the kitchen but had the room to ourselves, and I came up behind her as we were discussing something and put my arms around her while gently cupping her breasts. She was asking my opinion about something and there was no "right" answer, so while still cupping/caressing her breasts I gave my semi-serious reply to do whatever made her happy, and then in a moment of brilliance I added "After all, that [doing what makes me happy] is what I am doing right now!"
The unexpected nature of my reply, along with the "activities" that were taking place while having the conversation made for the perfect response of her bursting out laughing and trying to squirm out of my grasp.

Yes. We laugh often. Neither of us takes ourselves too seriously, so its easy to find something hilarious.
Our little ones have no idea how much private, comic relief they provide. We also enjoy some of the same movies, and like to quote them back to each other. For example, if the toast burned we remark how "One would think the General of Electric would have been proud of his invention... and actually used it." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDV-vIOGD4A
Or another example: if we're talking about bad things happening in the news/world, we can always lighten the mood by remembering this scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZp2VueBY8Y Mocking each other with, "You're the kind of ### that sticks to the bottom of a good man's loafer!"

We laugh all the time. I'll humbly say that I'm a funny guy, in a subtle dry-wit kind of way, and my wife has the best snark and put-downs that are funny, not hurtful.
